PURPOSE
Liberty Entertainment Group supports the full inclusion of persons with disabilities as set out in the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005.
This policy outlines what the organization must do to comply with regulations and with the goal of developing standards that improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
A. SCOPE
This policy governs the provision of goods and services by all employees, volunteers, agents, and/or contractors who act on behalf of or represent the organization.
B. POLICY AND PROCEDURE GUIDELINES
Liberty Entertainment Group will use all reasonable efforts to ensure its policies, practices, and procedures are consistent with the following principles:
- Goods and services must be provided in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities.
- Goods and services to persons with disabilities must be integrated unless an alternate measure is necessary to enable access.
- Persons with disabilities must be given an opportunity equal to others to obtain, use, and benefit from the goods or services.
C. COMMITMENT
Liberty Entertainment Group is committed to providing goods and services in a way that respects dignity and independence, ensuring equal access, and meeting accessibility requirements under AODA and Ontario’s accessibility laws.
We will:
- Remove barriers to accessibility.
- Meet needs in a timely manner.
- Allow people with disabilities to benefit from the same services, in the same place, and in a similar way as other customers.
AREAS OF SERVICE
1. Information and Communication
- Communication will take the person’s disability into account.
- Accessible formats or communication support will be provided when requested.
- If a request cannot be met in a reasonable timeframe, the organization will work with the person on alternatives.
- The organization will comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA website requirements.
2. Feedback Process
- Customers can provide feedback in person, by phone, writing, email, or completing a Customer Feedback Form.
- Feedback is directed to Human Resources, Liberty Entertainment Group, 25 British Columbia Road, Toronto ON M6K 3C3.
- Accessible formats and communication supports will be provided on request.
3. Service Disruption
- Notice will be given for planned or unexpected disruptions.
- Notices will include the reason, anticipated duration, and alternatives.
4. Use of Assistive Devices
- People with disabilities may use their personal assistive devices.
- Staff are trained to use assistive devices available in our facilities.
5. Use of Service Animals
- Service animals are welcome in public areas unless excluded by law (e.g., food preparation areas).
- If not easily identifiable, documentation from a regulated health professional may be requested.
- If animals are excluded, the organization will explain why and explore alternatives.
- Recognized health professionals include members of regulated Ontario colleges (e.g., Physicians, Nurses, Psychologists, etc.).
6. Use of Support Persons
- People with disabilities may be accompanied by a support person.
- The organization will consult with the person, consider health or safety evidence, and ensure no reasonable alternatives exist before imposing restrictions.
7. Training for Staff
Training will be provided to all as required by AODA Customer Service Standards. Training will include:
- Purposes of AODA and requirements.
- How to interact and communicate with people with various disabilities.
- How to assist those using assistive devices, service animals, or support persons.
- What to do if a person has difficulty accessing goods and services.
- Organization policies, practices, and procedures.
- How to use available equipment or devices.
8. Modification to Policies
- Policies will respect and promote dignity and independence of people with disabilities.
- No changes will be made without considering their impact on accessibility.
